The Executive Committee of TEVEA held a meeting on Friday, August 11, 2023 with a delegation of PASYXE Famagusta, as part of the cycle of contacts it conducts with local bodies and organizations to record, discuss and resolve issues concerning the province of Famagusta.

In an excellent atmosphere, the main problems facing society and the business world of Famagusta were discussed, such as the lack of a Local Plan of Paralimni - Deryneia - Ayia Napa, the Reform of Local Self-Government and, in general, the disadvantaged position of our province in terms of infrastructure and development policy.

A discussion followed about the problems faced by the tourism sector in the region, with the most important ones being seasonality, the lack of human resources in hotel units and catering centers, the long delays in provincial government services due to understaffing, etc. and the need to make efforts to extension of the tourist season, to upgrade the tourist product and promote entrepreneurship in the region.

The common finding of all was that there is a complete alignment of opinions between PASYXE Famagusta and TEBEA regarding the needs and problems facing the province of Famagusta, while it was agreed that cooperation and collaboration is the only way for all local bodies and organizations so that the voice is heard of the province of Famagusta in the decision-making centers in order to achieve what we claim.

The Tourist Commercial Industrial Company of Famagusta supports the Tourism entrepreneurs who are active in our province, promoting and defending their interests, because on the one hand they represent the most important industry that our country has to show, with the province of Famagusta being the flagship of Tourism in Cyprus gathering 43% of all Cypriot beds, on the one hand because they are the most important feeder and the main source of employment for a large part of the population of our province.
