The Pancyprian Association of Water Sports - Recreation Owners Association expects an intervention by the Minister of Interior to restore "normalcy" in view of the summer season and to continue offering its services to the tourism industry.
According to a relevant announcement, on Monday, January 31, 2022, the Central Committee of the Association met in an enlarged meeting in the presence of industry professionals, in the area of Paralimni-Protaras, which reviewed the course of issues and problems of the industry and in particular the "An explosive situation created by the Mayor of Paralimni with arbitrary, irregular and heinous actions which violate the Law on Beach Protection, the Regulations and the bidding procedures".
Unfortunately, it is mentioned in the announcement "Despite the actions, the steps and the mobilizations carried out by the Association and the Local Committee of Professionals of Paralimni-Protaras, the Mayor of Paralimni continues the methods that lead to a frontal conflict with the risk of not operating Water Sports Centers in his new".
The Central Committee of the Association expresses "Its full support and solidarity with fellow professionals Paralimni - Protaras" and announced that it had decided to hold a nationwide mobilization in February, outside the Ministry of Interior.
The Central Committee is waiting "From the Minister of Interior who has informed about the whole situation to intervene catalytically and to demand immediate implementation of the Law and Regulations that the Municipality of Paralimni blatantly violates, in order to restore normalcy in view of the Summer Season and the continuation of the Association's services in the Tourism Industry ” the announcement concludes.
