Xylophagou: The driver admitted that he hit a pedestrian and left him on the road

The driver admitted that he hit a foreign pedestrian in Xylofagou and left him helpless on the road with his health condition being judged as serious to critical.

According to the Police, shortly before two in the morning, information was received about a car accident with an injured person in the Xylofagou Community.

Members of the Xylofagos Police Station went to the scene where after investigations they found that around 01.30, a car driver, under unknown circumstances, hit a pedestrian while trying to cross a Community road and then left the spot.

The injured person was transported by ambulance from India to Larnaca General Hospital, however, due to the seriousness of his injuries, he was taken to Nicosia General Hospital, where he was kept for treatment.

His condition is judged by the treating doctors as serious to critical and he was placed in the ventilator.

The police were looking for the driver of the vehicle from the first moment, whom they located this morning at his home in Ormidia.

The 33-year-old driver was called to the Xylofagos Police Station where he went and during interrogation admitted that he hit a person who was, as he claimed, in the middle of the road.

The 33-year-old underwent an alcohol test with zero indication and gave a specific claim for the reasons why he left the Indian after the car accident.

The case is being investigated by the Xylofagou Police Station.
