A 21-year-old man from India, who is considered a suspect in the murder case of his 23-year-old compatriot, committed in the early hours of January 4 in Deryneia, has pleaded not guilty to ten charges.

Before the Permanent Criminal Court of Larnaca - Famagusta, the representative of the Prosecution Authority Thanasis Papanikolaou today addressed to the 21-year-old Indian a total of ten charges, concerning conspiracy to commit a crime, premeditated murder, attempted murder, attempted murder. out of residence and possession of an offensive instrument.

The young man answered negatively to each of the ten accusations leveled at him through an interpreter.

There are 53 prosecution witnesses in the case file, including police officers from the Famagusta Police Department, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the British Dhekelia Bases, and doctors from the Nicosia and Famagusta General Hospitals.

The President of the Criminal Court set July 17, 2017 as the date for the start of the hearing, while, until then, the 21-year-old Indian will be held in the Central Prison.

It is recalled that around 02.30 in the early hours of January 4, 2017, a 19-year-old from India went to the Deryneia Police Station and reported that 15 minutes earlier, outside the apartment where he lives with six other compatriots in Deryneia, five people from India attacked with knives and batons and hit them, injuring them.

According to the complaint, he and his six compatriots were on a beach in Ayia Napa, where they met the 21-year-old suspect along with four other Indian friends and had fun drinking alcohol.

Then, they all went to a house in the area of ​​Pernera in Protaras, where they continued their fun, during which one of the complainants had a heated verbal confrontation with the 21-year-old suspect and later they all left the house.

According to a testimony in the hands of the Police, around 02.15 the 21-year-old suspect, together with four Indians and another person, arrived outside the complainants' apartment by car and six of the 7 residents in the apartment went down to the street, where and a fight broke out.

Specifically, two of the Indians attacked a 23-year-old with knives and stabbed him twice, while the others attacked three people with knives and batons and wounded them.

After the clash, the six Indians left the area, while four of their seven compatriots, along with the victim, went to the Deryneia Police Station and reported the case.

An ambulance from the Famagusta General Hospital went to the Deryneia Police Station and picked up the victims, where it was found that the 23-year-old was dead, after suffering two injuries, one of which was in the area of ​​the heart.

The 21-year-old suspect was arrested on January 5 at the Pergamon Barricade by the Police of the British Bases of Dhekelia, when he tried to cross into the occupied areas. Two Indians, aged 22 and 23, who were also arrested, tried to pass the Indian in their car to the occupied areas.

A hearing has been launched against the two Pakistanis before the Famagusta District Court, where they are accused of conspiracy after committing a crime.
