The Cyprus Tourism Organization (CTO), which, as part of its efforts to upgrade services on Cypriot beaches, supports the accessibility of people with mobility difficulties, announced that in Cyprus 47 disabled beaches have been registered by the CTO, of which 26 beaches have full accessibility and 21 with partial accessibility.

The 26 fully accessible beaches have access to the sea (wooden ramps or plastic walkways) that allow the wheelchair user to move to the sea for swimming, as well as sanitary and parking areas for use by people with disabilities (PWD).

It is noteworthy that five of the beaches have an innovative autonomous sea access system for the disabled (Seatrac). The system consists of a photovoltaic tower, which sets in motion a special seat applied on a rail, transporting the user to a depth of 60 cm. about in the water. In addition, several beaches have a special amphibious wheelchair suitable for movement on the beach and access to the sea, as it floats (Floating Wheelchair).

The use of the Seatrac system and the amphibious wheelchair (Floating Wheelchair) is offered free of charge to the public. Relevant information is provided by the local lifeguards on the beaches.
