It is well known that walking, and physical exercise in general, is one of the best ways to protect yourself from cardiovascular disease, especially heart attack and stroke.

However, what the World Heart Federation finds is that more than a quarter of the people on the planet are not aware of how much time they walk every day.

According to the survey, which involved 7.400 adults, depending on the country, 14% to 37% of adults do not pay any attention to how much time they spend walking each day.

According to scientists, half an hour of brisk walking a day can reduce cardiovascular risk by 11% and increase life expectancy. Even 15 minutes of moderate physical exercise daily can "give" up to three years more life.

"Awareness is the first step to a healthy heart. "Watching how much we walk should be as simple as watching what we eat," said Dr. Kathryn Taubert, chief scientist at the World Heart Association.
