This morning, at 9:30, at the Tomb of Makedonitissa, the official handover ceremony of the remains of the 16 Greek victims who were aboard the aircraft of the Hellenic Air Force Noratlas "Victory 4".
The ceremony will take place in the presence of the President of the Republic, Nikos Anastasiadis, while the Greek government will be represented by the Minister of National Defense, Panos Kammenos. Trisagio will be performed by His Beatitude the Archbishop of Cyprus Mr. Chrysostomos II.
The relatives of the deceased will be awarded the Medal of Excellence.
Today, after the ceremony, the remains of the heroes will be transported to Greece by a Greek Air Force C-130 aircraft to be handed over to their relatives for burial.
The ceremony will be attended by the President of the Hellenic Republic, the political and military leadership of the Greek Ministry of National Defense and relatives of the deceased.
The ceremony will take place at Tatoi Air Base, where a memorial service will be held.
During the ceremony, the Minister of Defense, Christoforos Fokaidis, will award, on behalf of the Republic of Cyprus, the Medal of Excellent Offer to the relatives of the deceased who were unable to travel to Cyprus for the handover ceremony.
