In a few days the "funds" for the payment of marketing licenses open. This year there will be not only possibility for payment of six months and 12 months but also for shorter periods. The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works (Department of Road Transport) advises everyone to take care of the renewal of the registration of their vehicle in time and not to wait for the last days, to avoid possible overload of the system that can cause inconvenience. We quote you everything you want to know to take advantage of the new data but also to avoid unnecessary problems.
For 3,6,9, or 12 months
Marketing authorizations can be renewed for a period of three, six, nine and twelve months.
Since when can you pay?
The marketing licenses will be renewed from Monday 9/1/2017 while the last date for the renewal of the marketing licenses free of charge is Saturday 11/3/2017.
If you are late…
According to the legislation, for renewals of marketing licenses that will take place after Saturday 11/3/2017, the sum of the amount of 10 euros and an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the license will be imposed as a charge on the marketing license corresponding to the amount due for the current year.
When does the Police start checking?
The inspection of the vehicles will start on Sunday 12/3/2017 and from this date the Police and the Road Transport Department will report those who drive vehicles without a valid registration permit.
To renew the marketing authorization there must be:
• Certificate of suitability in force,
• Security.
Those who do not intend to renew the licenses
It is reminded and emphasized that those who had renewed the registration of their vehicle in 2016 but do not intend to renew it for 2017 should submit to the Road Transport Department an application for immobilization of the vehicle, by completing the form TOM 12. Otherwise , the obligation to pay the amount corresponding to the registration fee continues to exist as a civil debt owed to the Republic.
Cancel registration
In case of destruction of the vehicle, the owners must submit to the TOM an application for cancellation of registration of the vehicle (form TOM 98) accompanied by the "Certificate of Destruction" issued by licensed vehicle waste treatment facilities, to be exempted from the obligation to pay date of destruction of the vehicle.
Marketing authorizations can be renewed throughout the year:
• online at http://rtd.mcw.gov.cy,
• to Cooperative Credit Institutions,
• in commercial banks,
• at the Citizen Service Centers,
• at the District Offices of the Department of Postal Services,
• at the District Offices of the Road Transport Department.
It is reminded and emphasized that notifications will not be sent to the registered owners, for the renewal of the marketing licenses.
