The province of Famagusta honored its 38 young men who dedicated their lives with more self-sacrifice during the national liberation struggle.
In a memorial service organized yesterday, Sunday, by the Association of Fighters of Famagusta, EOKA 1955-59, the heroes of the city and the province were honored.
The memorial service held at the Church of the Apostles Peter and Paul in Avgorou was attended by a large number of officials and ordinary people who wanted to honor with their presence the heroes of the province.
The memorial service was also presided over by the Metropolitan of Constantia, Famagusta, Mr. Vassilios, while the President of the Association of Fighters of Famagusta EOKA 55-59, Mr. Fotos Papadopoulos, delivered a memorial speech.
During his speech, Mr. Papadopoulos, proud of the 38 young men who sacrificed their blood to water the tree of freedom, praised the fighting spirit of the heroes of the province of Famagusta.
This was followed by the laying of wreaths at the monument to the heroes of the Avgorou community.
