In the final stretch, LPG in Cyprus. At the beginning of 2015 it will be implemented according to the Minister of Commerce who issued a relevant decree. In the text of Kyriakos Kyriakidis and the cost of converting vehicles to run on LPG instead of gasoline and oil.

With the aim of having all the legislation ready in November, so that at the beginning of 2015 the use of LPG in cars is allowed, the Ministry of Energy starts in the next few days a cycle of contacts with all the involved bodies.

The dialogue that ministry officials will have with the parliament and the trade committee, gas trading companies, the Road Transport Department and the electromechanical service will be completed in October.

As early as August 18th, the competent minister issued a decree setting out, among other things, the specifications for LPG based on the European standard, while the submission of bills for the license of the service stations is expected.

The cost of modifying a vehicle for liquefied petroleum gas will range from 400 to 1200 euros and will be subject to strict safety standards.

According to information from ANTENNA, there will be a transitional period of six months to determine on the one hand the degree of readiness of all agencies, on the other hand to identify problems, gaps and omissions to be corrected immediately.

Sources from the Ministry of Energy told our station that a lot will depend on the interest shown by the oil import companies and the gas trading companies, the readiness of the gas stations that will sell LPG for vehicles, but also the degree of readiness of everyone for the implementation of the plan.

The use of LPG for cars was allowed on the Cypriot roads until 1977, due to lack of infrastructure and for safety reasons.
