The Mayor of Ayia Napa, in turn, participates in the Ice Bucket Challenge that has become a "mania" among the celebrities of the whole world.
Mr. Giannis Karousos accepted the challenge from Anthony Melas SNIPER and in turn sent the challenge to the Mayor of Paralimni, Mr. Theodoros Pyrillis, to the Vice President of the CTO, Mr. Costas Koumis and to the Actor and Director of Philanthropist Andreas Georgiou, , to raise money for the rare disease.
This charity event is dedicated to people suffering from ALS and the goal of the challenge is to inform the public about this disease and to raise money to promote scientific research to develop effective treatment.
Patients with ALS are members of the Cyprus Myopathic Association and their medical care is carried out at the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics. TELETHON is organized by the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics and the Cyprus Association of Myopathies.
