Kyriakidou: Goal by 2030 access to integrated cancer centers for 90% of patients

The establishment of the network of national Integrated Cancer Centers in the EU was announced, the Commission announced on Monday, in the framework of the European Plan for the Fight against Cancer.

According to Health Commissioner Stella Kyriakidou, the goal is for the network to be fully operational by 2025, as well as to ensure that 90% of eligible patients will have access to such centers by 2030.

"With the European Cancer Plan we are committed to improving access to high quality diagnostic measures, innovative treatments and personalized patient care across the EU," she said.

"The EU Integrated Cancer Centers network is part of our commitment to reducing inequalities between Member States by promoting co-operation across the EU," he said.

The network will bring together nationally integrated cancer centers and networks across the EU, with the aim of improving access to quality diagnostics and treatments. It will also contribute to supporting actions to improve training, research and clinical trials across the EU.
