After Audi has completed the range of conventional models, from the A1 to the A8, it turned its attention to completing the range of its SUV models with the Q1 being one of the next launches.

The new Audi Q1 is based on the Crosslane Coupe, which was presented at the Paris Motor Show a year ago.

The MQB platform of the small SUV is borrowed from the VW group, on which the upcoming Polo (2015), as well as the new A1 (2016) will be based. The length of Q1 will be 4.000 mm, the width 1.750 mm and the height 1.570 mm.

In practice, the new SUV is slightly larger than the A1 and slightly smaller than its direct competitor, the Nissan Juke.

Optionally there is the option of four-wheel drive, but for the most part most versions will be two-wheeled. The range of mechanical units will have low displacement engines (3-cylinder 1,0-liter turbo), which will also be equipped with the Start / Stop system.

There will also be a 1,2 liter four-cylinder, as well as the new 1,4 liter. TFSI. In the future, this engine will be combined with a plug-in hybrid system, just like the A3 e-tron.

There will also be the diesel versions with 1,4 and 1,6 TDI, which will be combined with the 6-speed manual transmission, while it is not unlikely to see the new 10-speed automatic transmission (DSG), which will supply for for the first time the new Passat, in a year.

Finally, the cabin is expected to keep a minimalist look, the same as that of the A3, with most functions completed through the infotainment system of the German firm MMI.
