The works for the opening of the Deryneia roadblock continue at a steady pace with the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot sides having intensified the pace for the completion of the required works.
On the occasion of statements by occupation leader Mustafa Akinci After his visit to the roadblocks of Deryneia and Aplikio, the Mayor of Deryneia stated that the works continue daily while the works required for the opening of the roadblock are, as he stated, the completion of the buildings of the state services (customs and police) and its works Department of Urban Planning and Housing regarding the construction of a 9 meter wide road that will include a pedestrian and bicycle path.
However, he noted that no information was received about the visit of Mustafa Akkintzi to the Deryneia roadblock, while at the same time he stated that the road from Famagusta to Deryneia will be named "Deryneia Road" and the road from Deryneia to Famagusta will be named "Leo".
