Nicosia sees the opportunity to launch a counterattack on the issue of Famagusta on the occasion of the agitation of the issue by the Turkish side.
In the morning, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ioannis Kasoulidis, informed the Municipal Council of the occupied city of Evagoras about the measures that the government is promoting in response to the Turkish actions.
The measures, which are expected to be announced in the coming days, are aimed at strengthening the legitimacy of the site for the opening of the besieged city of Famagusta for its legal residents under the auspices of the United Nations and to bring back to the forefront Turkey's obligations on the issue. which stem from United Nations resolutions and decisions.
The actions that can be promoted by the Municipal Council, were in the focus of today's meeting at the Cultural Center of Famagusta in Deryneia. Tomorrow, the Mayor of Famagusta, Alexis Galanos, will give a press conference on the anti-occupation events that will be organized in the coming weeks.
An open meeting of the Municipal Council in Deryneia is scheduled for August 14, in which any interested citizen of Famagusta will be able to participate. During it, a resolution will be adopted and a discussion on Famagusta and the Cyprus issue will follow. The big Anti-Occupation event of the Municipality of Famagusta will take place on September 30.
