Coordination and solidarity at all levels was proposed by the Minister of Defense, Fotis Fotiou, in the face of the critical moments, in a commemorative speech at the event in memory of the occupied Acheritos.

The Minister of Defense said that the intense geopolitical and geostrategic fermentations in the region, after the discovery of hydrocarbons in our EEZ, in combination with the instability in the wider Middle East, require the revision and adaptation of our strategy to modern developments.

"Through agreements with friendly countries in the region and beyond, we seek to highlight the new stabilizing role that our country can and now plays in the fragile environment of the southeastern Mediterranean," said the Minister of Defense.

We are creating, he continued, "a shield of protection to promote energy and maritime security, which will allow us to implement our plans, for the benefit of the development and prosperity of our people. For the benefit of future generations who have the right, as much as we have the obligation, to ensure them the basis of a dignified life ".

Mr. Fotiou pointed out that "these developments are directly related to our national issue which continues to be the crowning achievement of the Government's priorities".

As he stated, "the strengthening of energy diplomacy and the implementation of plans for the exploitation of our submarine wealth, in addition to economic, has direct implications for the sovereignty of our country. The rights, which we have repeatedly stressed that we will not relinquish, precisely because they are based on international conventions and agreements. "Because they are related to the survival of our people and can play a catalytic role in reducing Turkish intransigence in the upcoming talks on resolving the Cyprus issue."

The Minister of Defense noted that "the urgency of the moment requires unity and vigilance. "Coordination and solidarity at all levels", adding that in this context, the President of the Republic will seek to draw up a solution outline at the level of the National Council, in order to achieve the greatest possible consensus. "Because what unites us is much more than what separates us and why the liberation of our homeland remains our greatest common goal," said Mr. Fotiou.

"The struggle will continue until the occupation troops leave and the barbed wire is removed," he said.
