Jealousy armed the hand of 42-year-old Ozgur Okumus and killed his 25-year-old wife. The murder is on the front pages of Turkish Cypriot newspapers.
According to testimonies, the young Bourtziou quarreled with her husband and was seen leaving angry. Ozgur followed her holding a knife and fatally wounded her in the heart and neck. The 42-year-old then turned his knife on himself in front of the crowd and fell to the ground.
The unfortunate Bourtziou was transported by private car to the Famagusta hospital but had already succumbed. An ambulance that was called to the spot transported Ozgur and is being treated in the intensive care unit without any danger.
According to the newspapers of the occupied territories, Ozgur had published on Facebook a few days ago, a poem by Umit Yasiar Oguzjian entitled "The end of Aiten" which refers to the death of a woman. A search was made by "police" at the house where the 42-year-old lived separately for drugs.
Bourtziu was a student and her body will be sent to her family in Turkey after a legal autopsy.
