The nominations for the Commune Mayors and the members of the Community Councils of the Famagusta constituency, in view of the Community elections that will be held on December 18, were submitted today at the offices of the Famagusta District Administration in Larnaca and Paralimni.
As the Election Commissioner of the Famagusta Electoral District, Angelos Agapiou, stated to KYPE, “the candidacies were submitted from 09.00 in the morning until 12.30 at noon and the process went smoothly. On December 18, elections will be held both for the position of Common Leader and for the Community Councils in all the Communities of the free province of Famagusta, ie Acheritos, Achna, Avgorou, Frenaros and Liopetri ".
He added that "elections for Mayor and Community Councils will be held in 14 of the 60 Communities in the occupied province of Famagusta. Of the 14 Communities that will be elected, eight will be for the election of a Common Leader and the remaining six for a Common Leader and Community Councils ".
He also noted that from today until tomorrow at 12.30 tomorrow at noon, objections can be submitted for candidacies submitted either for the position of Common Leader or for a member of a Community Council.
According to Mr. Agapiou, "in case there are no objections, tomorrow at six in the afternoon we will proceed with the proclamation of Commonwealths in 46 Communities of the occupied Province of Famagusta and in 54 Communities for Community Councils. The announcement will be made at the Lefkoniko Association in Larnaca ".
