The mayor of Serres, Petros Angelidis, welcomed the mayor of Ayia Napa, in the building of TEDK. Welcoming Mr. Karousos, among others, he stated: "The purpose of our cooperation is the development of friendship ties between the two Municipalities and the exchange of know-how, with the aim of our participation with proposals in programs that open in 2017. Programs such as Interreg Balcan Mediterranean and the Interreg Med Program, which are related to the Environment, Tourism, Energy and Entrepreneurship ". Mr. Angelidis thanked the mayor of Ayia Napa for the impeccable hospitality that occurred when in June 2016 he visited the Municipality of Ag. Mr. Karousos, in turn thanking the Mayor of Serres for his invitation to visit the Municipality of Serres stressed: "We are convinced that our two Municipalities are connected by several common elements, such as historical monuments, sights and our cooperation will help maximally in our effort for implementation and promotion, contributing decisively to the success of our common goals and aspirations ".
The two mayors exchanged gifts, the mayor of Serres, Petros Angelidis, offered a painting by Serrai artist Christoforos Melidis, copies of the results of the two scientific conferences organized by the municipality and a book with the history of the city. The mayor of Ayia Napa, in return offered an image of the Virgin Mary and a decorative boat.
