The Auditor General is doing his job well but on the other hand the needs for the Ministry of Interior are given, said today the Minister Socrates Hasikos, speaking in relation to the Services of the free area of Famagusta located in Larnaca and will move to a building in Paralimni.
Speaking after meetings with various agencies on the movement of LPG and oil storage facilities from Larnaca to the Vasilikou area, wishing to comment on relevant reports, he said: "We who have taken over here at the Ministry of the Interior have first identified the need for Administration, Urban Planning and Land Registry concerning the world of free Famagusta could not be in Larnaca. So all these Services had to be gathered where the people are called to serve. That's the decent thing to do, and it should end there. "
The second finding, he continued, was that the Famagusta Land Registry was in an oversized building in Larnaca, with the result that the state wasted money by renting a building, but also of enormous dimensions in relation to the needs it had for the staff.
In the face of these two, he said, we have instructed immediately to proceed with the search for a building to house if possible all the Services that concern the free area of Famagusta.
"There was a reaction from the staff, who are people - I'm telling you I'm from Larnaca, I'm from the Larnaca area, why should I go to Paralimni for example. There was a reaction, but it was not in their hands because they reacted not to move. The problem arose with the whole process, as today the Auditor General of the Republic investigates it both for the finding and for the conclusion of the specific building ", he added.
