The raising of the flag, with students chanting the national anthem at the same time, is no longer included in the curriculum of primary schools in Greece.

According to an article in "Kathimerini", in parallel with the introduction of the lottery for the selection of flag bearers, which continues to provoke reactions, the Ministry of Education abolishes the ritual based on which the children sang the national anthem with their eyes on Galanolefki.

Besides, according to the ND MP Nikitas Kaklamanis, the relevant Presidential Decree did not even provide for the morning prayer and was returned by the President of the Republic because the issue of unconstitutionality was raised.

Article 13, paragraph 5b of Presidential Decree 201/98 (the Minister of Education was Gerasimos Arsenis), provided that the flag remains posted on the school mast, as in all public services on working days. The submission of the flag takes place when deemed appropriate by the teachers' association. The flag is officially hoisted: (1) on the first Monday of each month (by the morning shift school), (2) on national anniversaries and local holidays, (3) when deemed appropriate by the teachers' association or designated by the relevant principles ".

In Gavroglou PD, in article 3, paragraph 7, it is only defined that "the flag remains hung on the school mast, as provided in all public services".
