As it is known, Kolokasi Sotiras and Kolokasi-pulses Sotiras have been certified as Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) products by the European Union, while Kolokasi Sotiras has been awarded as the Best Agricultural Product in 2015 by the Quality Awards "C".

The Municipality of Sotiras is organizing a local product promotion event in the Netherlands, specifically at the Hotel School the Hague, next January.

The event is under the auspices of the Cypriot Embassy in the Netherlands and the Cyprus Tourism Organization.

This is an initiative of Innovative Hospitality Education and the Executive Chef of Sunrise Hotels Antonis Attounis, who is constantly creating new recipes based on Kolokasi Sotiras which is implemented by the Municipality of Sotiras.

In his statements, the Mayor of Sotira, Mr. Georgios Takkas stated that the Certification of the Kolokassi was only the initial step towards the promotion and promotion of the local product of Sotira abroad.

Now, he said, the Municipality of Sotiras in collaboration with the group of producers, is planning the next steps for dynamic promotion of Kolokasios in other countries, which, as he mentioned, show great interest in including Kolokasis Sotiras in the gastronomic choices of their restaurants.

He noted that there is already significant interest from well-known and distinguished restaurants in Greece, which have already included the product in their delicacies, while at the same time the participation in a tourist exhibition in Greece next winter is being studied.

On January 13, distinguished guests, professors, students and others who will attend the Cyprus dinner organized at the University will have the opportunity to taste alternative recipes, some of which were presented during the two Kolokassi Tasting Nights which were organized with great success by the Municipality of Sotira.

The dinner will consist of gourmet and alternative recipes with the signature of the award-winning chef Antonis Attounis. At the same time, students of the University will be introduced to Cypriot cuisine in a special presentation that will take place the day before.
