Nicosia:

The Pancyprian Student Coordinating Committee calls on the political parties to vote against the new regulations for the operation of public schools and, consequently, the four-month exams next Friday, February 3rd.

PSEM states in an announcement that it will monitor the developments, expecting those in charge to listen to the concerns of the students, while warning that if such a thing does not become possible, they have no choice but to take new measures.

The need to return to the issue of regulations is expressed by the Student Committee in view of their vote by Parliament. "Our fight is not over" and adds that:

"As PSEM, we call on the political parties not to vote for the new regulations that will put a gravestone in our education system.

Our demands are clear. We want a humane and democratic school in the ways of teaching, operation and evaluation ". They also say they will continue their efforts to meet with parties that have not yet accepted them, in order to persuade them to vote "against the transformation of the school into an examination center".
