Ayia Napa: In order to further strengthen the relations of the Municipality with its citizens, the Municipal Council of Ayia Napa decided to create a "citizens' barometer".

As the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Giannis Karousos, stated to KYPE, "the Municipal Council during its session yesterday decided to create a" citizens' barometer ". Essentially it will be a survey that will be done about twice a year and the citizens will rate the Municipality and various Services on ten different topics, ie cleaning, beaches, service, garbage collection and more. At the same time, the citizens will be able to anonymously express their opinion on various problems they face, will express their concerns and will give various suggestions ".

According to Mr. Karousos, the results of the "citizens' barometer" will be presented before the Municipal Council, which will examine their score and comments and will give instructions to the various departments of the Municipality to take specific measures to solve the problems that arise. .

He also noted that in the next "barometer" the citizens of Ayia Napa will have the opportunity to re-rate the specific services and say whether the problem that existed in the previous survey has been solved or not ".

He also stated that "the research will be conducted by companies that will be completely legal and certified. "The" barometer "will not be attended by all the citizens of Ayia Napa but a representative sample and we will see with the company that will undertake the research whether the research will be done door to door or by phone".

Answering a relevant question, the Mayor of Ayia Napa said that "soon the conditions will be prepared and we will come out in offers to find the company that will conduct the" barometer "and we hope the first survey will be done in the summer of 2017".

Asked whether tourists will also take part, taking into account that in the summer months Ayia Napa is flooded with tens of thousands of visitors, Giannis Karousos answered that "the barometer will actually be for the citizens. However, we will examine whether a winter survey can be conducted where only citizens of Ayia Napa will take part and a summer survey where tourists' opinion will also be sought ".

"We expect that with the creation of the" citizens' barometer "the relationship between the Municipality and citizens will be further strengthened. We are also confident that the views expressed by our citizens will be for the best possible operation of the Municipality and its services with the ultimate goal always the best service of our people ", he added.
