The trial for the 4-fold murder in Ayia Napa continued with the testimony of an employee of Stone Garden and Medical Examiner Sophocles

With the testimony of an employee of The Stone Garden restaurant and the medical examiner Sophocles Sophocles, the hearing for the quadruple murder committed on the evening of June 23, 2016 in Agia Napa continued today before the Permanent Criminal Court of Larnaca - Famagusta.

The victims of the attack were businessman Fanos Kalopsidiotis, police officer Elias Hadjiefuthymiou, his wife Skevi Hadjieffthymiou and Yiani Vogli, one of the perpetrators.

Defendants are 42-year-old Loy Dejan, 39-year-old Marios Christodoulou, 38-year-old Benny, 28-year-old Panagiotis Pentavkas and XNUMX-year-old Sofia Grigoriou, who are jointly facing charges of conspiracy to commit murder, premeditated murder, attempted murder, and premeditated acts. bodily injury, possession of a B-class firearm, possession of a class A firearm, possession of a B-class firearm and possession of a class A firearm.

The four defendants were taken to the Criminal Court room, accompanied by armed MAAD police officers, who were by their side throughout the proceedings. The courtroom was filled with police officers from various services of the Force.

Christakis Tsaggaras, an employee of the Stone Garden restaurant, initially testified that he read to the Court the testimony he gave to the Police, in which he stated that around 10.05 on the night of June 23, 2016, he went to the table of Fanos Kalopsidiotis to say goodnight to him. and then went to say goodnight to the owner's wife.

There he continued, "I caught sight of two hooded men on the side of the nearby restaurant (Edelwise) who were walking slowly and one was holding a large gun like an automatic." I told my Lady something bad would happen and in a few seconds they started firing. I heard 2-3 shots and then a lot of shots like a burst and I fell to the floor, "said the witness.

He added that when the shootings ended, I went outside and saw Fanos (Kalopsidiotis), a man and a woman on the floor and a lot of blood around them. I also saw another person holding his right hand from which blood was running to the exit of the restaurant, "he said, adding that he did not see his face, nor did he know who he was.

According to the witness, "as soon as the shooting was over, I saw the bodyguard of Fanos Kalopsidiotis Loy Dejan standing to the right of the wooden bar and he asked me" what happened ", that is, what happened and I showed him with my hands the dead on the floor" noting that Dejan "He was very calm and not scared."

Examined by Michalis Pikis, Mario Christodoulou's defense lawyer, otherwise Benny, the witness said that the two hooded men he saw on the night of the murder "had a slow gait, stopped at one point and one of them started firing with the automatic." In another question from Mr. Pikis, the witness said that "I don't know if there was a third hooded man, I only saw the two of them", they were walking in the corridor that separates the restaurants The Stone Garden and Edelwise, "since logically they must have passed through this corridor "And" I heard at first 2-3 shots like a shot and then continuous shots like a burst. In response to an examination by Nikos Dimitriou, a defense lawyer for Panagiotis Pentavkas, the witness said that when he saw the two hooded men, he thought something bad would happen and then the shooting started. Looking at Loy Dejan's defense attorney, Mr. Tsangaras said that after the shooting, he saw Fanos' bodyguard (Dejan) and asked him "what happened", while there were other people near him, including a waiter.

When the lawyer submitted that Dejan did not ask him "what happened" but asked the waiter next to him "are you ok?", Mr. Tsagaras replied that he did not know, adding that the waiter was also shocked. "Dejan was very calm, he was not afraid," he said.

Observing the lawyer that Dejan was also frightened by what happened, the witness said that "I do not object, I have nothing against the man, he did not look scared".

Then the Medical Examiner Sophocleous testified that together with his colleagues Nikola Charalambous and Angeliki Papetta they carried out an autopsy on the scene of the murder that same night. He specifically stated that on the night of 23/6/2016, he and his colleagues saw in the courtyard of the restaurant The Stone Garden three corpses carrying bullets and in another covered area next to the courtyard another corpse (Yani Vogli).

Mr. Sophocles read in the Court the forensic reports that he prepared for the injured MMAD police officer George Charalambous and for Skevi Hadjiefthymiou and Yani Vogli, at whom he performed an autopsy.

Regarding George Charalambous, the medical examiner said that he examined him at the General Hospital of Nicosia on 30/6/2016 and suffered, among other things, a plastic bruise on his right and left ankle, two injuries to the dorsal surface of his left arm, two injuries to the anterior anterior cruciate ligament. , abrasion in the left lateral thoracic region and surgical incision sutured in the right anterior knee of the knee extending to the right lower thigh.

Regarding the autopsy of Skevi Hadjiefthymiou, Mr. Sophocleous said that it was performed at the General Hospital of Nicosia on 24/6/2016 and brought an injury from the right eye and an injury to the left temporal lobe. He added that the cause of Skevi's death was a severe craniocerebral injury caused by a firearm, that the wound he was carrying was translucent, that is, he had an entrance and an exit, and that the clothes he was wearing that night were very bloody.

For Yani Vogli, the medical examiner said that he performed an autopsy on his body at the Nicosia General Hospital on 24/6/2016, that he had an injury in the right hypoplasia and an injury in the left chest at the level of the nipple. He added that the deceased had suffered a heart and lung rupture from the bullet he had received and that the cause of death was internal bleeding caused by a firearm.

According to Sophocles, Vogli suffered a transversal injury, meaning that the bullet entered points below the right shoulder blade and exited the left chest below the nipple.

The medical examiner identified from photographs the area where the bodies of the victims were during the autopsy carried out at the restaurant where the murders took place. He also explained to the Court from photographs the injuries inflicted by police officer George Charalambous and the procedure followed in various stages of the autopsy performed on the bodies of 39-year-old Skevi Hatziefthymiou and Yani Vogli.

For Yani Vogli, the medical examiner said he was wearing two black hoods and two pairs of gloves, one plastic and one black, and had lost a lot of blood. He added that the items found on his clothes included his Albanian passport and identity card, a wallet, a Virgin Mary, three rosaries, a gold chain, a wooden cross, a piece of silver paper with cotton inside (possibly oil), bullets and a stuffing. weapon.
