According to information quoted by the newspaper "Politis", the municipalities of the province (Paralimni, Ayia Napa, Sotiras and Deryneia) and the local tourism development and promotion company have reached an agreement with specific foreign airlines to promote and promote the free province of Famagusta. abroad.
This campaign will be valid throughout this summer, until the end of 2017, with prospects for expansion in 2018. Speaking to the newspaper "Politis" about the agreement with the airlines, the official of the local tourism development company Lakis Avraamidis stated that this is a very important agreement, which can increase tourist traffic especially during the summer months, but also for the coming months until the end of the year.
As he said, a big goal of the province of Famagusta always remains the extension of the tourist season, ie the season to start in March and end in November. "This year we have achieved a slight extension of the season. The occupancy of hotels in the province in May is higher than in the same period last year. Our goal, however, is to have satisfactory fullness by March. We must build on the dynamics that the free province of Famagusta has acquired in recent years, with the very good tourist years of 2015-2016, but also with the complete upgrade and expansion of most hotel accommodation in the area. "The tourism product of the province is clearly of better quality than it was in previous years", he pointed out. Lakis Avraamidis stated that the extension of the tourist season is possible, if the appropriate air connections are achieved.
