Harvard Medical School has found a "solution" for those who say they are frustrated with how little they remember their dreams or even claim they do not see dreams and suggests a way to not forget our dreams when we wake up. |

According to a recent study, the way to change this is before going to bed to drink three full glasses of water - not beer or wine. According to the data, the amount of water suppresses the 5th stage of sleep - also known as REM - resulting in waking up to go to the toilet.

Waking up in this phase, we usually remember our dreams clearly.

The study's lead author, Robert Stickgold, an associate professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, also recommends repeating the phrase "I will remember my dreams" three times before going to bed and holding a notebook and a pen by the bed.

"When we fall asleep all the events of the day go through our minds. Evolutionarily is a period during which the brain tries to figure out what to process when it falls asleep. Putting "to remember my dreams" on the list may make us remember them.

When waking up we should not open our eyes, nor move, nor say anything - every sensory perception or movement tends to erase the memory of a dream.

"If you turn around and tell their partner that you just had a nice dream, you will immediately forget it," says Stickold. What he actually advises is to stay half asleep and try to keep it in our memory.

With this process, says the American psychiatrist, the memory is stored in a different way and so the dream stays alive.

Another tip is to "immerse" yourself in the dream again and collect more and more details. For two weeks, Stickold urges us to say to ourselves, "Remember your dreams!" After such "practice", I predict, says the American psychiatrist, at least 80% of people who usually say that they do not dream, will now be able to do it.
