Almost 300 kilos of damaged items were confiscated today by officials of the Customs Department at the Agios Dometios roadblock.

Around 4 this afternoon, according to a relevant announcement, the on-duty officers of the Customs Department at the Agios Dometios crossing point, realized that in an adjacent open parking lot, a Greek Cypriot property was being loaded into a saloon.

The inspection that followed revealed that it was about 100 kilos of green peppers which were trafficked illegally from the occupied areas.

The quantity of 100 kilos of green peppers as well as the vehicle in which it was loaded, were confiscated by the Customs Department.

As mentioned, the Director of the Customs Department accepted a written request for out-of-court settlement of the offenses committed with the payment of a compromise amount of € 500. The confiscated vehicle was also returned to its owner with the payment of an additional amount of return of € 500.

Moreover, around 6 pm today, during the usual customs control of a truck transporting a quantity of perishables from the occupied to the free areas through the roadblock of Agios Dometios, it was found, hidden in it, in addition to the quantity that was legally moving in the Accompanying Document base. , quantity of 60 kilos of green peppers and 120 kilos of rapeseed, which were confiscated.

The vehicle in which the illegal quantity of perishables, owned by a Greek Cypriot, was found, was also confiscated.

Subsequently, the Director of the Customs Department accepted a written request for out-of-court settlement of the offenses committed, with the payment of a compromise amount of € 500. The confiscated vehicle was also returned to its owner with the payment of an additional amount of return of € 500.

In both cases the damages that were confiscated were abandoned at the Customs Department.
