The transfer of water from Turkey to the occupied territories was announced by the Turkish Minister of Forests and Water Affairs, Veysel Eroglu, saying that the water supply to the sea water distribution line has started.
The Turkish Minister stated that under the program for the first time in the world it was implemented and completed with the installation of the last part, adding that the submarine pipeline is 80 km long and is 250 meters below the sea. The water is taken from the Alakioprou dam of Mersina and from there to the sea water distribution line.
The Turkish minister described the program as "extraordinary" and "program of the century", saying that it cost a total of 1 Turkish pounds. The water will meet the needs of the occupied in the long run. He said 255,000,000 million square meters of water would be transported a year.
