A 55-year-old Bulgarian man, a private employee who worked in Aradippou, is the victim of the new fatal car accident that occurred today on the Ayia Napa-Rizoelia highway. This is a divorced man, a permanent resident of Cyprus, who allegedly headed to a nearby area where a relative lives.

Around 6.25 in the morning, a 48-year-old resident of Livadia was driving his double-decker car from the Livadia exit to the Rizoelia roundabout, holding the left lane, when he dragged the man, who was trying to cross the highway in the right direction.

The double cab dragged the pedestrian for several meters and dismembered him, while three other vehicles were involved in the accident, two of which were trucks, which also hit the unfortunate man.

Due to the severity and extent of the accident, the road to Rizoelia was closed for almost 4 hours. Thousands of drivers and workers suffered and were delayed in their work. The queue of cars reached from the exit of Livadia to the exit of Pyla. Many drivers used detours.

The driver was tested for alcohol with zero indication, while the information states that he tried to avoid the victim. Despite the shock he suffered, the 48-year-old immediately notified the Police, who informed him about the accident.

It is noted that the representative of the Larnaca Traffic Police, on the occasion of this terrible accident, appealed to the public as he avoids crossing highways at any point.
