The twinning protocol between the Municipality of Ayia Napa and the city of Gelendzhik, Russia, was signed last Saturday night during the program of the 2nd day of the 33rd Ayia Napa International Festival.
The protocol was signed before the Ambassador of Russia in Cyprus Mr. Stanislav Osatsi by the Mayor Mr. Giannis Karousos and the First Deputy Mayor of Gelendzhik Mrs. Tatiana Konstantinova.
In his greeting, the Ambassador of Russia expressed his satisfaction with the fact that another Russian city beyond the St. Petersburg Metallurgy and Ivanovo is twinning with Ayia Napa and his confidence that there will be good cooperation in all areas for the benefit of two cities and their inhabitants.
A historic moment for Ayia Napa and its citizens was characterized by the Mayor Mr. Giannis Karousos the twinning with the city of Gelendzhik as it is considered as he mentioned in his speech one of the most important tourist resorts of Russia, which hosts millions of tourists annually and which impresses with its infrastructure, its beauty, its hospitality, its dozens of theme parks, its beaches but also for the strong Greek element.
Mr. Karousos expressed the wish for the best in this new cooperation as well as his confidence that the twinning will be effective, productive, timeless and its benefits will be enjoyed by future generations.
The Mayor of Ayia Napa did not fail to thank the Consul of Cyprus in Krasnodar, Mr. Nikos Vassilios, who, thanks to his own initiative, managed to hold the First Phase of Twinning.
For her part, Mrs. Tatiana Konstantinova welcomed the establishment of close relations and cooperation with Ayia Napa, "a city as she noted" we have many things in common, emphasizing that in the course it will be shown that the twinning will not remain on paper but will achieves its goals and objectives ".
