The meeting was also attended by Mr. Costas Diakos, Regional Councilor of Attica and representative of the Movement of Environmentalists in Greece. The next steps were discussed for the joint promotion of the proposal for "Green Famagusta" within the framework of European principles and values, with the aim of returning the excluded part of Famagusta to all its legal residents, who must be resettled in conditions of security and peace. , to rebuild the city in an ecologically sustainable way, to promote the operation and management of the port of Famagusta under the supervision of the European Union for the benefit of all residents of both communities and to make Famagusta a green city model of social cohesion, cooperation and sustainable ecological economic activity, with energy efficient buildings, sustainable transport, waste recycling, sustainable water and wastewater management.

It was also agreed the systematic cooperation between the Movement of Environmentalists and the Greek MEP Mr. Nikos Chrysogelos, in view of the assumption of the European Presidency by Cyprus in the second half of 2012, with the aim of formulating a set of proposals for environmental initiatives by of the Cyprus Presidency.

In the context of the political priorities set by the Greek MEP for his term in the European Parliament, it was agreed to have a systematic exchange of views on issues of social cohesion, employment - especially for young people - on green economy and sustainable regional development, as well as environmental questions. , given that Cyprus does not have an elected MEP green.

There was also an exchange of views on energy policy issues in the SE Mediterranean.
