The extension of the measures in force for the treatment of the coronavirus by one week from their planned duration, was suggested by the Committee of Experts to the Greek government.

Specifically, during today's meeting, the committee of experts examined the latest epidemiological data and the situation formed by the spread of the "Omicron" mutation in the country, assessing as premature the possibility of easing the existing framework of measures.

On the contrary, the committee recommended the extension of the measures from 16 January, which was their initial duration until 23 January, with a parallel re-evaluation of the data.

It is recalled that the existing framework of measures includes limited opening hours in restaurants and entertainment venues until 12 pm, ban on music and standing customers, as well as restrictions on seated customers per table.

In addition, there are restrictions on the presence of fans in the stadiums at 10% of their capacity with a ceiling of 1.000 people, mandatory use of a mask of increased protection in certain areas, teleworking up to 50% in public and private sectors, as well as special health provisions for visits to nursing homes and hospitals.
