The trekking in Elafonissi of the 29-year-old Frenchwoman, Violet Gigano, ended in tragedy, as the authorities found her dead on Thursday, July 1st, after days of investigations. The young tourist apparently made a mistake, which was fatal.

The young girl arrived on Thursday morning at the beach of Krio, where she parked her vehicle and headed through a path to Elafonisi.

There were the last signs of life, as she contacted her parents, and then took the road back.

Unfortunately, however, at an intersection of the path she took the wrong direction, as a result of which she lost her orientation, was led to another point and fell into an inaccessible point.

The chronicle of the disappearance

The 29-year-old Frenchwoman is coming to Chania alone on June 21 in order to enjoy a short vacation.

She rents a car and goes to a hotel in Paleochora where she had booked her stay.

Then he starts walking in the wider area to enjoy the landscapes.

The 29-year-old had an almost daily "presence" on social media as she uploaded photos and videos from her excursions in the area. At the same time, she had contact with her family. But that did not happen until June 24. Since then, her traces have disappeared. Her family tried to contact her but to no avail. He called the hotel where he knew that the 29-year-old was staying but had not given any trace of life.

In fact, she had arranged to leave on June 28, but never went to the hotel to get her things.

Her family, with the assistance of the French authorities, informed the local EL.AS. who immediately started a big operation to locate the young tourist.

Her parents were concerned and informed the French authorities, who in turn informed the Greek authorities and signaled the start of the investigations in which firefighters from Kissamos, police and volunteer rescuers took part.

Unfortunately, when the rescue teams located her, it was already too late.
