The 10-year-old boy who was found last Saturday fighting with the waves on the beach of Gournes left his last breath in the ICU for Children of PAGNI.

According to cretalive.gr, little Alexandros remained in hypoxia for a long time, a fact that proved fatal, as despite the efforts of the doctors he could not be kept alive.

The 10-year-old boy had been pulled unconscious from the sea of Heraklion with the bathers watching in shock their rescue efforts by EKAB and the Coast Guard.

After many attempts, the rescuers managed to restore his pulse, while his father was taken to the hospital, who suffered injuries from the rocks, while trying to get the child out.

Initially, the 10-year-old was transported by intubation to the Venizelio Hospital of Heraklion and then, however, it was deemed necessary to transfer him to the Children's ICU of PAGNI, where unfortunately he ended up five days later.
