The local community of Rethymno and the whole of Crete is shocked by the murder of a 47-year-old woman in Panormos.
No one can believe that 47-year-old Stavroula is no longer close to them. How suddenly, for no reason, she armed her neighbor's hand and took her life with a shotgun.
Stavroula, 47, from Panormo, Rethymno, is the 8th victim of female homicide in Greece and the 2nd in Crete for 2021.
The 47-year-old was very popular in the area of Rethymno where she had a business with a fish spa. According to the residents of the area, she was a quiet woman, mother of two children and had never given rights to anyone. Speaking to cretapost, businessmen operating in Panormo, were adamant about the possible perpetrator and victim having an affair, without specifying the reasons that armed the 49-year-old.
Others reported that the 49-year-old wanted her erotically but she had rejected him and that may have been the reason for the murder.
On her personal page on social media, friends and relatives say goodbye to her.
The chronicle of the tragedy
The tragic incident took place on Sunday afternoon in Panormos. The 49-year-old visited the business of the 47-year-old and shot her in the back with a shotgun. In fact, a tourist was injured in the hand by the shrapnel. The 49-year-old fled after his act.
Panic ensued with ambulances and patrol cars arriving at the scene. The woman was taken to the hospital in Rethymno where the doctors confirmed her death. The police knew the identity of the perpetrator from the first moment and launched a manhunt to locate and arrest him. A little while later, his vehicle was located. He had turned his shotgun on himself when apprehended by a police officer on the porch of the house where the shootings took place.
