Capture Down syndrome

Lucas Warren's genuine and innocent smile is what convinced one of the world's largest baby food and baby products companies to choose him as the "face" of its campaign.

The Gerber Products Company received countless photos of prospective babies, but Lucas was the one who was chosen to become the first child with Down syndrome to advertise its products in the company's 91-year history. The process that highlights each year's Gerber Baby has been underway since 2010.

Lucas is only 14 months old and was chosen from 140.000 baby applicants. He is about to receive the amount of 40.000 euros to become the protagonist of Gerber baby's social media posts ( #LucasWarren ).

His mother, Cortney, said she hopes the campaign will increase the world's acceptance of these special children. He also said that "Lucas is a very social child, he loves to play, laugh and make other people laugh. He has Down syndrome, but first he is Lucas, a kid with an amazing personality who goes through everything other kids his age do. We hope that when he grows up and looks back, he will feel proud of himself - and not ashamed of his disability."

Bill Partyka, CEO and president of Gerber, confessed that the smile and happiness that appeared on Lucas's face, won the hearts of all members of the company.

"Each year we choose a child who best exemplifies the company's long-term legacy of recognizing that every baby is a Gerber baby. This year Lucas became the perfect example."

Jason, Lucas' father, hoped that "what happened to our son will have an impact on everyone - that it will shine a little light on the special needs community and help more people with special needs to be accepted - and not are limited. They have the potential to change the world, just like everyone else."
