The works of the 13th Student Conference of Schools of Secondary, Technical and Private Education were announced today by the Minister of Education, Costas Kadis, at the Lyceum of Kokkinohoria, Fotis Pitta.
In his greeting, the Minister of Education stated that the aim of the conference, which was held under the title "Cyprus 2017: Promotion and Utilization of our cultural wealth" is to promote the wonderful cultural heritage of our country, but also ways to use it to remain alive and unchanged over time.
He also noted that the connection with the past strengthens and maintains our national and cultural identity and identity and is at the same time a solid foundation for our future course.
In his greeting, he also stressed that the familiarization, especially of young people, with mechanisms that protect our language, traditions, archeological and religious sites, works of art, our customs and traditions is considered necessary, for to be able to preserve our historical identity and our cultural heritage.
The Conference falls under the third targeted goal of the year of the Ministry of Education and Culture, which aims to bring Education closer to Culture and focuses on highlighting our cultural wealth through experiential actions. This goal is part of the institution of the European Capital of Culture "Paphos 2017".
The inter-school conference was attended by 120 students in experiential workshops, through which, as stated by Mr. Kadis, they will have the opportunity to get a more complete picture of the ways in which our spiritual and material heritage and tradition can be highlighted and protected.
Specifically, Fotis Pitta High School of Kokkinohori participated with the parameter "The cultural capital of our country as a public, connected with the quality of life", the Xenion Highschool Private School with the thematic parameter "The contribution of Cypriot cultures" in dealing with the modern the Technical School of Paralimni with the parameter “The role of the active citizen in the formation of cultural identity and ways of action in the school environment” and the Lyceum of Paralimni with the thematic parameter “Famagusta: History and Civil lation through arts "
Greetings were addressed by the Director of the Lyceum of Kokkinohoria, Adamos Sergiou, the Director of the Lyceum of Paralimni (Coordinating School of Famagusta) Solon Charalambous and Dr. George George.
During the beginning of the conference, an event was presented by students of the Lyceum of Kokkinohoria and a music program by the students of the Music School of Famagusta.
Afterwards, the Minister went to the Apostolos Barnabas Special School in Liopetri, where he had the opportunity to meet with the teachers and students of the School, to tour the classrooms and all the special rooms and to discuss with the teachers and the organized parents. for issues that concern them. During the discussion, it was revealed that the School provides a high level of education, without this meaning that there is no room for improvement, for which the Ministry of Education and Culture is making continuous efforts.
Finally, the Minister visited the Xylotympou Regional High School, where, on the occasion of the Tree Festival, he participated with the children and teachers in tree planting in the school yard. Afterwards, the Minister attended an artistic program that was prepared with great care by the School.
