DISY Famagusta MP George Karoullas, expresses his concern and concern about the dimensions of the phenomenon of illegal transport of fuel from the occupied to the free areas.

In addition to individuals going to the occupied territories to refuel their vehicles, apparently with cheaper fuel, it was found that various attempts were made to transport larger quantities of fuel to the free areas.

This emerges from data from the Customs Department, which proceeded with seizures, but also from complaints from gas station operators operating in areas adjacent to the ceasefire line.

Mr. Karoullas notes that “the Green Line Regulation is being violated as well as issues of safety and pollution of the environment.

"Apart from the issue raised about the specifications and the quality of the fuel from the occupied areas, measures must be taken by the Republic of Cyprus in cooperation with the British Bases to deal with the illegality and the serious dimensions of the phenomenon," the MP said.

At the same time, there is a moral issue for those who, in the pursuit of easy profits and low prices, are financially strong and do not hesitate to marginalize the Turkish occupation and the Golgotha that our refugees have been waiting for for decades, to return to their homes.
