According to the Ministry of Labor's monthly employment report, the unemployment rate climbed to 14,7% last month, breaking the post-war record of 10,8% in November 1982.

Economists surveyed by Reuters predicted that the number of employees outside the agricultural sector would fall by 22 million. The figures for March were revised, reflecting the loss of 870.000 jobs compared to the 701.000 previously announced. The unemployment rate was expected to rise to 16% from 4,4% previously.
