Coronavirus deaths rise internationally, WHO says sad first for US, Brazil, India and South Africa

Deaths from the new coronavirus worldwide have risen by 9.753 in 24 hours, the second-highest daily increase since April 30, when 9.797 deaths were reported, the World Health Organization said.

In the same period, a record number of cases was recorded, with 284.196 in a 24-hour period. The previous one, as of July 18, was 259.848 cases in one day.

The largest increases in deaths were recorded in the United States, Brazil, India and South Africa. Deaths averaged 5.000 a day in July and around 4.600 in June.
