BioNTech / Pfizer vaccine against children 5-11 years old is effective and safe Covid-19, the company BioNTech announced on Monday, referring to the results of the relevant clinical research.
According to the company, the research showed that both the immune response and the side effects of the vaccine are similar to those of the 16-25 age group. Children aged 5-11 years, however, were given one-third of the 30-microgram dose, with a three-week interval between the two doses.
The data of the clinical trial will be submitted as soon as possible to the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the corresponding American service FDA, the two companies announced. "We are delighted to be able to report the results to school-age children before the start of winter," said BioNTech co-founder Ugur Sahin. By the end of the year, the results of the studies for the ages 2-5 years and 6 months - 2 years are expected.
