Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Thursday that he would discuss the chemical weapons attack in the Duma with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin by telephone.

"I spoke to Mr. Trump last night. "I will talk to Putin tonight and discuss how we can stop this chemical slaughter together," he told Ankara.

Erdogan also said that Turkey would maintain its presence and activities in Syria until the country becomes safe for all.

On April 8, Syrian doctors and rescue workers said dozens of people had died in a seeming chemical attack in a besieged enclave near Damascus as government forces stepped up their attack to retake the last rebel strongholds near the capital.
