A far-right councilor was sentenced today by a Grenoble court to two months suspended imprisonment for asking the authorities to "pull out the golden teeth of the Roma" if they want to "feed and house them".

The misdemeanor court also imposed a fine of 2.000 euros and a four-year deprivation of civil rights on Frank Sinisi, according to Fontainebleau Mayor Jean-Paul Trovero, who had filed a lawsuit against the councilor.

Sinisi, who was elected by the National Front, was on trial for "inciting (racial) discrimination or hatred" following statements he made last February during the city council.

He then said that for their housing, the Roma could be "self-financed" and explained:

"It is enough to invest at the municipal level, to pay them the dentist. Yes, I explain, to pay their dentist, to give them nickel teeth, to get their gold teeth. I think that is exactly what they will be fed and housed with ".

His statements were recorded and broadcast on the website of the local Communist Party organization.

Sinisi was ousted from the Marine Le Pen National Front a few months later.

The municipality of Fontaine and various organizations had filed a lawsuit against the councilor.
