His viewers "The Crown" they have no doubt who was to blame for the collapse of Prince Charles's marriage to Diana: he secretly leaves to meet his beloved Camilla Parker Bowles, while the princess stays crying in the Palace.

Now, however, one of the couple's former royal protection officers presents a completely different version of events.

Alan Peters claims that Carlos did not fall into Camila's arms again until he found out that Diana had an affair with his colleague, Barry Manaki, who is married and the father of two girls. And it was Peters who informed Carlos about his wife's relationship.

"The popular perception is that the Prince of Wales was unfaithful throughout his marriage and that he undoubtedly had an extramarital affair was the princess. He returned to Mrs. Parker Bowles after learning about her relationship with Manaki " stated.

This confirms the version of Jonathan Diblby. In his authoritative biography of Charles, published in 1994, Diblby stated that Charles and Camilla rekindled their acquaintance in 1986.

Barry Manaki had started working to protect Diana in 1985. Their relationship is said to have started during a fishing trip to Balmoral that year. In 1986 he was transferred to the diplomatic corps and a year later, at the age of 39, he was killed in a mysterious car accident.

He was then said to have been hit by a 17-year-old motorcyclist in East London, prompting Diana to suggest that he had been "pulled out of the middle".

Charles' reaction

Speaking in his new documentary CNN, Peters says of Diana: "I began to notice that her behavior was unusual whenever we were anywhere near Manaki, so I decided to talk to her. For the first 20 minutes he categorically denied it, but then he told me exactly what was happening: he had some kind of relationship with Manaki ".

He continued: "The Prince of Wales approached me and said, 'Why is the princess behaving this way? What the hell is going on? So I tell him, "You have to talk to her." And he said, "Well, I tried it all, and the only thing that seems to bother her is that Barry Manaki will be back in uniform. And if she's so upset, let Barry stay. " At that point, I had to say, "Well, sir, if he stays, then I'm afraid I'll have to leave." And, I think, that's where he got it. "He was completely shocked and visibly upset."
