Poland recorded 775 deaths from COVID-19 on Friday, the highest number of daily deaths in the fourth wave of the new coronavirus epidemic, according to data released by the Polish Ministry of Health.

Poland has persistently recorded high daily cases in the fourth wave of the epidemic, which has forced authorities to step up restrictive measures. On Friday, Poland also recorded 18.021 new cases of coronavirus, while their total number in the country since the outbreak of the pandemic exceeds 4 million.

"Unfortunately (deaths) are prevalent among the elderly and the unvaccinated.

The Ministry of Health also announced that almost 83% of the 775 people who died on Friday were over 65 years old, while 73% were unvaccinated.
