Las Vegas police have arrested a suspect in the nearly three-decade-old murder of rapper Tupac Shakur, the Associated Press reported, citing unnamed sources.
Dwayne "Keffie Dee" Davis was arrested earlier this morning. The exact charges against him have not been released, but the indictment is expected to be announced later today.
Reuters was unable to reach Davis or his legal representatives.
Shakur was at the height of his fame when he was shot in a car on his way to a boxing match on September 7, 1996. He died in hospital six days later, aged just 25.
Davis had admitted in interviews and in his memoir, a 2019 book called “Compton Street Legend,” that he was inside the Cadillac from which the shots were fired.
Tupac Shakur was an award-winning rapper, activist and actor who sold more than 75 million records worldwide.
