Iranian plane with 60 passengers crashed

An Iranian plane with 60 passengers has crashed near the city of Semirom in Isfahan province of Iran. According to the Tasnim news agency, the plane disappeared from radars from Tehran to Yasuj.

Semirom is located about 80 km north of Yasuj, the capital of the southwestern province of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad.

Iran's state-run television channel reports the number of people on the plane as 66.

 

According to foreign media, this is an ATR 72 aircraft. This model was introduced in the 80's and is new for Iranian pilots. The country signed an agreement to buy 20 such aircraft in 2016 with the option for another 20 and received the first in 2017.
