The League and the Five Stars, after the relevant speech of the Italian President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, reiterated their opposition to any kind of technocratic government and that they prefer new parliamentary elections.

"It is essential that the will of the Italians be respected. "Something that means either the center-right government, or elections as soon as possible, for the first time in the summer," Lega secretary Matteo Salvini wrote on the internet. In his view, "no more time can be wasted and there is no chance of establishing technocratic governments like that of Mario Monti."

"We do not trust any neutral government, because it is synonymous with a technocratic government. "Let's go to the polls in July," wrote Luigi Di Maio, the five-star prime minister-designate.

"Matteo Renzi and Silvio Berlusconi have chosen to sabotage our every effort to form a political government. "So how can we accept a government of technocrats in which these people will be?" Asked the five-star Senate spokesman Danino Toninelli.
