Coronavirus: The Atalanta-Valencia match was the free kick in Bergamo

Italy has undoubtedly received the strongest blow from the coronavirus pandemic, with the biggest problem focusing on Bergamo. The Italian city is the province that has been hit hardest by the virus.

Asked about the causes of the outbreak in the city, Italian immunologist Francesco Le Foke, who works at Umberto I Hospital in Rome, gave his own answer, presenting the dramatic situation in Bergamo as a result of the great gathering of Atalanta football fans.

According to Le Foke, it all started when around 2.500 fans traveled to Italy and Milan to watch the match against Valencia, as Atalanta used the stadium of Inter and Milan for the Champions League, due to the fact that their headquarters in Bergamo does not qualify for the tournament match.

While the virus was still in the early stages of spreading to northern Italy, with no travel bans imposed, thousands of fans in Milan for the historic match returned home infected with the virus. The same thing happened with the Valencia fans, who returned to Spain with coronavirus symptoms.

Characteristic are the statements of Le Foke who also reproduced Football Italia:

"A month has passed since that match, so the timing is tight. Thousands of people on the podium, side by side, in a state of absolute happiness for what they saw from Atalanta, so everything is possible. "Nobody wanted to lose this game, so one can assume that there were people on the stands who may have had a slight fever, already had symptoms but did not pay attention."
